gut-friendly foods (image)

Nutritionist and Exercise Physiology expert, Dr. Shawn Talbott made an appearance on KUTV’s Fresh Living to talk about Mental Health Awareness Month. He explains the three brains, the brain in our head, the brain in our gut, and our heart, known as the third brain. Scientific studies show that caring for the health of these three brains can help reduce stress and provide better mental and physical performance.

Dr. Talbott also gives examples of foods that are beneficial to the gut like yogurt, kombucha, and other fermented foods that can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Besides foods, Dr. Talbott suggests supplementing with probiotic products. For example, Amare’s Probiotics or MentaBiotics, which contains specific probiotics, prebiotics, and phytobiotics to address mental wellness.
